Every business needs to adhere to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all businesses even those with less than 5 employees need to demonstrate that they have taken practicable steps to protect their employees and customers. More specifically there is a legal requirement for employers to make a “suitable and sufficient “ risk assessment for the health and safety risks faced by employees and customers.

Risk assessments must be in writing if they have more than 5 employees however with the COVID19 pandemic all business no matter what size or if they have less than 5 employees will still need to demonstrate that they have reviewed the risks and put the appropriate controls in place. Not only do you need to protect your employees but you will need to protect your customers.
